REPORT FOR NATION-WIDE SURVEY ON THE ENGAGEMENT OF PRIVATE SECTOR FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF PEACE ENDOWMENT FUND TO SUPPORT CSOS IN PEACE BUILDING IN NIGERIA
This report explores the feasibility of establishing a Peace Endowment Fund (PEF) to support Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in peacebuilding initiatives across Nigeria. Traditionally, CSOs and NGOs in Nigeria rely on external funding, such as grants and donations, to finance their peacebuilding activities. However, these sources of funding have become increasingly insufficient, restrictive, and uncertain, hindering CSOs’ ability to plan for the long term, improve services, or achieve sustainable impact. This report proposes a Nigeria-initiated, private-sector-led Peace Endowment Fund that would be owned, managed, and governed by Nigerians, with the aim of creating a financially sustainable model to support peacebuilding efforts and provide strategic backing for CSOs engaged in peace efforts across the country.
