ALTERNATIVE CASES TO DIRTY POLLUTING AGRIBUSINESS AND ENERGY PROJECTS AND THEIR ECOSYSTEM IN NIGERIA
As part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II), AAN carried out research titled "Alternative Cases to Dirty Polluting Agribusiness and Energy Projects and Their Ecosystem in Nigeria " The study aimed to provide insights on ways to ensure a sustainable transition to clean, reliable agro-processing.
The research identified and documented 26 cases of dirty, unhygienic, and polluting agricultural processes or businesses along various crop value chains in Nigeria and presented 10 viable clean alternative cases to the identified cases. The methodology included an extensive review of literature, stakeholder interviews from farmers and small-scale processors to solution providers and innovators, and field visits and scoring of processes.
The Strategic Partnership Agreement II (SPA II) project is funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The project aims to improve the realization of fundamental human and democratic rights and improve, sustainable livelihoods, resilience, and protection for young people, especially young women living in marginalization, including in disaster and protracted crises context. The project is being implemented in Akwa Ibom, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Enugu, Lagos and the FCT.
